A UNIQUE event demonstrating how art, food and music can all be used in dementia care is being staged in Ealing next Monday (20).
As part of the Being Human Festival, Stimulating All the Senses: Art, Food, Music and Dementia will include demonstrations of how sensory stimulation can help people with dementia and their carers.
Dementia sufferers will help prepare food, a Thinking about Dementia art exhibition will be launched and there will be musical performances, object handling and discussion about the positive impact it can all make on people with the condition.
Presenters will include Prof Victoria Tischler, Dementia Care Centre, University of West London, Dr Emilie Capulet, London College of Music, and Peter Cross, London Geller School of Hospitality and Tourism.
Professor Tischler, the organiser, says: “This event brings together the latest research on the benefits of multi-sensory stimulation in dementia care.
“We are looking forward to sharing the wealth of expertise that we have at UWL with the public, including many special guests living with dementia.”
