A trademark application uncovered by Cadillac Society and picked up by Motor1 reveals at least some desire to market scented products under the Cadillac name. Filed back in January but only posted by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in May, the application covers room fragrances, body soaps, perfumes and colognes, and candles.
A perfect gift idea for that special someone who’s just bought a second-hand ATS with the base 2.5-liter.
Unlikely lifestyle products are the norm among higher-end automakers, though premium divisions of mainstream companies might have a harder time pulling off such an effort without garnering their fair share of eye-rolling and jokes. While the products listed in the application haven’t yet materialized in the real world, this wouldn’t be the first time Cadillac stamped its name on a fragrance line.
Back in 2008 (undoubtedly a great era for GM), Cadillac rolled out a line of fragrances for men, tempting blokes who like to spice up their evenings with hints of wild mint, bergamot zest, cloves, geranium, grapefruit, tarragon, chamomile, cinnamon, and fresh cedar. These products disappeared after 2012, but can still be found online if you’re willing to do some searching.
Now, all of this begs the question: what does Cadillac smell like?
