From ‘Gingerbread Caramel’ to ‘Cream Soda’, we’ve seen many a hair colour trend named after a beverage or a sweet treat on the ‘gram that we’ve just got to try. And while our social media feeds are filled with an array of scrumptious beauty trends, the latest one has truly piqued our interest with the mere mention of wine.

‘Mulled Wine’ hair, much like its namesake, characterises locks that boast a deep red, almost purple hue. The trend comes together with splashes of golden amber and chocolate brown colour to give it both depth and light. The hair trend completely mirrors that of the autumnal beverage and looks as delicious as the cinnamon-sprinkled drink sounds. Plus, the multi-dimensional tones mean it works for most skin tones. We’ve already seen ‘Mulled Wine’ hair making its way onto the red carpet with The Politician’s Zoey Deutch sporting her own interpretation of the toast-worthy trend.

Weighing in on the new hair trend, celebrity hairstylist Jason Collier, who has a client roster that includes Victoria Beckham, Eva Longoria and Justin Timberlake, told Tyla that the wine hue is a great way of updating your ‘do this season.

The award-winning London hairdresser said: “Mulled wine hair has all the different tones of red; from true reds to violet and blue, which makes it perfect to tailor to different skin tones and a great way of updating your hair style.

“The key to creating this is to ensure the colour is dimensional to make it feel modern and chic.”

The hairstylist said that you don’t have to drastically colour your entire mane to feel on trend and could simply add a mulled wine hue to your ends for an ombré hair look.

Wine not try it out? It’s nearly Christmas after all…
