The fashion house showcases the work of contemporary artists in the NFT art gallery the Vault Art Space.
After several successful metaverse collaborations, Gucci continues its exploration into uncharted territory with a new art gallery. The Vault Art Space is pioneering the marketplace of NFT artworks and showcases pieces by forward-thinking contemporary artists. The new space is the product of a new collaboration between Gucci and SuperRare, the world’s top NFT art marketplace.
For their first exhibition, the Vault Art Space presents The Next 100 Years of Gucci. The exhibition shows NFT artworks that are a collectible fragment of the fashion house’s extensive heritage. This exhibition is the first of what Gucci hopes will be many. The brand aims to have a rotation of exhibitions that all exude limitless creativity.
29 handpicked artists reflect upon Gucci’s century heritage and make predictions as to what comes next. Each artist uses Gucci’s past and present to create its future. Artists range from cryptonatives to creatives experimenting with digital artforms for the first time. Past house collaborators and emerging talents come together for the exhibition. Alanna Vanacore, Alex Trochut, Alexis Christodoulou, Aliendope, ALIENQUEEN, Aliina Kauranne, anchenillustration, Antoni Tudisco, Dārta Katrīna, diberkato, Drew Young, eBoy, Ignasi Monreal, Ignorance1, Jordan Schiffer, Kris Andrew Small, loudsqueak, Merijn Hos & Jurriaan Hos, Paulina Almira, Pet Liger, Pindar Van Arman, SamJ, Sasha Katz, Sheidlina, Tim Maxwell, trs.mnz, Tyler Spangler, VEXX, and YEAHYEAHCHLOE are the artists in question.
All works shown in the exhibition will be auctioned off in three drops. Hosted directly on the Vault’s website, buyers have the opportunity to own a piece of Gucci’s heritage through the NFT artwork. The first drop takes place on June 23 and runs until July 1. The second drop starts on July 7 and runs until July 15. The third, and final drop, takes place on July 21 and runs until July 29. All sales will be in ETH.
The art space shines a spotlight on Vault’s commitment to supporting new talents and shows Alessandro Michele’s vision for the fashion house. Michele continuously pushes Gucci’s boundaries and includes diverse points of view in its narrative. Vault Art Space advances the house’s journey into the digital art world and shows that the possibilities for creativity are endless.
As Vault enters more of the web3 landscape, Gucci puts down roots in the crypto art space with the purchase of SuperRare DAO’s native token $RARE. This purchase marks Gucci as the first DAO focused on curation in web3.
For the Next 100 Years of Gucci launch, the fashion house, and SuperRare host three Twitter Spaces conversations with artist, philosopher, curator, and writer Rowynn Dumont. Dumont will speak to the 29 artists about creating and collecting art today. All conversations will be recorded and available to listen to afterward as episodes of the Gucci Podcast. The first conversation took place on June 23 and is available to listen to on all major podcast streaming platforms now.
