What would your portrait look like based on your smell? An installation in Moscow is inviting visitors to create their scent portraits and sniff their way through a new exhibition dedicated to olfactory art. It is the work of Norwegian scent expert Sissel Tolaas and is currently on display at the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art in Moscow. The work involves a machine that analyzes peoples’ personal scent and creates a portrait by an algorithm. The smell is unique for every person, like the iris or fingerprints. The artists are trying to tell visitors that a smell portrait could become another biometric tool that could be used against them.
